Coincidence is Heavenly Father’s way of remaining anonymous.
Is He anonymous or does He step back and allow us to come to the realization that He is in every little detail of our lives?
Little details
Isn’t it fun when you meet someone, start talking, and realize you know the same person from some tiny corner of the earth? Then we say, “it’s such a small world.”
I had an institute teacher who always said, “Coincidence is Heavenly Father’s way of remaining anonymous.” Is He anonymous or does He step back and allow us to come to the realization that He is in every little detail of our lives?
Right place right time
I believe it’s the latter. Have you ever noticed that someone moves into the ward at just the right time, whose skills and personality were sorely needed? As Heavenly Father’s children, we experience changes all the time and through those changes, many others are blessed.
I had the experience of moving across the country and being told by heaven about a month before we moved, that the sisters there were praying for me to come. They didn’t know me personally, but they were praying for someone to show up who could bless the ward in a specific calling that needed to be filled. When a few wonderful sisters came over to my house to say hello, I thought “They are so friendly. They seem so kind and excited to have another member in their ward.” Truthfully, they were witnessing the answer to their prayers come to fruition.
Overseeing and directing
God is in the details, He is in the minute aspects of life always overseeing and directing. Personally, I love knowing that.
We are imperfect mortals here on our earthly sojourn and we are prone to ask, “What if?” We are often short-sighted and fail to trust in His timing.
God, in his limitless wisdom and power, knows how to organize all things in proper order for our benefit. He is an amazing multi-tasker.
When we focus on the “what if”, it is usually us focusing on the negative. “What if I lose my job?” “What if I need medical attention and can’t afford it?” “What if I can’t find a place to rent?” And the list goes on. There are numerous things to preoccupy our minds. How often do we flip the coin? “What if I serve a mission?” “What if I think of a sister in my ward before I entertain my worries?” “What if HF has something better planned for me than what I can imagine at this point?” “What if I share my testimony with a neighbor?” Good things will come as we remember that He is always aware of our needs and the “Ifs” in our lives, are just another way for us to anchor our souls to our Father as we trust in Him.
Trust him
President Henry B. Eyring said, “That trust comes from knowing God. More than any other people on earth, we have, through the glorious events of the Restoration of the gospel, felt the peace that the Lord offered His people with the words 'Be still, and know that I am God.' (D&C 101:16) My heart is filled with gratitude for what God has revealed about Himself that we might trust Him.” 1.
He reminds us that all flesh is in His hands before He asks us to be still and I can’t think of anything more comforting.
